Hi, I'm Tanya!

With 30 years in the preschool world, I’m here to share what really works (and what really doesn’t). If there’s one thing I know, it’s this: kids don’t need complicated plans or pricey toys. They need play, stories, patience, and parents who feel confident and supported. That’s why I started Diary of a Preschool Teacher-to make early learning simple, playful, and practical. You’ll find real-life tips for behavior and connection , favorite picture books for preschoolers, and easy, upcycled activities that transform everyday items into learning tools.
I’m driven by a love of children’s literature and the magic of early learning-using stories as opportunities for creativity, connection, and hands-on exploration. I love creating and sharing simple activities that extend the lessons from favorite books, helping kids build knowledge, language, and relationships.
Parenting preschoolers is equal parts joy and chaos (sometimes within the same five minutes!). I hope to inspire you with tools and ideas that make these years feel fun, practical, and meaningful for you and your child.
At the heart of it, kids do better when we understand how they tick, keep expectations realistic, and bring patience to the table. That’s how they grow and how you enjoy the ride.
